addison's soccer season

This was her year. She finally got it. She ran around the field like she had purpose and was determined to make a goal.
She worked really hard and I saw a fantastic team player out there. She always sat on the sideline with her team, watching the game, learning what she could when she wasn't in the game.

And she stayed hydrated. Very important in the Florida heat.
Every once in awhile, during half time, she would sit in my lap and I'd tell her proud I was of her. And she would act like a nut.
Two kids playing soccer meant three days a week we were at the field. She did a pretty good job playing the role of big sister. She was patient, kept busy, and even had some fun with my camera.

I sure wish I had it on film or video, but it finally happen. She scored a goal!!! I jumped, I screamed, I even cried. I was so freaking proud of her.
This year it was all about that goal. And the trophy.

I'm actually considering Spring soccer for her. Just to keep her fresh. But there's something about the holidays that wear me out and it's hard for me to commit. We'll see how it goes this year.

morgan plays soccer, kind of

Another soccer season comes to a close. To be honest, I haven't been that into it. I didn't get to know many of the parents on the sidelines. I couldn't tell you the name of most of the kids on the team. I didn't take 5,000 pictures this season. Some games I didn't even take my camera to the field. But I enjoyed watching the girls play. Morgan was pretty much where she left off last fall. She did run around a little more this year, but most of it was just chasing her friends to give them hugs. I'm just not sure if soccer is her thing.
But she looks cute.
I think this was one of the few times she actually kicked the ball.
Now, if the season was about sitting on the sideline and socializing with friends and family, then she definitely wins the award for Miss Congeniality.

Then there's the Gatorade and the snacks. By far, the highlight of every game.

She got a little better towards the end. There was a little method to her madness.

Ultimately, it's the trophy they really want. The coach named her as best girl on the team. That's because there were only 4 of them and the other 3 were under the age of 5.
My sweet, silly girl. Trying to get her to take a serious picture is like pulling teeth.

She was so proud of that trophy. And rightfully so. She earned that for all the chasing, hugging, snacking and soccer playing she did.

soccer season 2013

The eight week soccer season has come and gone. Things get a little hectic during those two months so it's been a little hard to keep up with posting. And this was Morgan's first year playing so we doubled the practices and the games. It's worth it though. The girls had a blast.

Here's Addison right after her first game. We saw some good progress and change in Addison this year. She really went after the ball and wasn't afraid to get in there with the boys and kick it. She didn't make a goal, but she was so excited when anyone on her team did. Next year is going to be her year.
This was Morgan after her first game. She didn't do much playing. There was a lot of standing around, playing with her hair, and waving at us from across the field. Towards the end of the season it started to click a little more, but if there was anything girlie going on around her she wasn't interested in the game.
Once I get through some more of the pics I'll post some action shots.

it's soccer season

Soccer has started. It was a little crazy at first with all the rain and practices and games getting rescheduled, but we seem to be in the groove of things now. Addison is a veteran on her team and seems to be more into it and a little better at the game than she was last year. She's one of three girls on her team and is sometimes a little scared to really get in the mix of boys and kick the ball. Her confidence is growing and each week she seems to get a little better.
She was so excited during the first game there was a lot of jumping and overall joy.
Since she one of the oldest and biggest on the time she's on the field a lot. At one point she just needed a break. This is my favorite picture so far this season.
Before the second game the team had pictures taken. I took some of my own.
She hasn't scored a goal yet, but she's a pretty good goalie. She's blocked plenty of shots so far this season. Her time is coming though. I can feel it.
Morgan is ready. She would play today if she was old enough.
Next game is tomorrow. Stay tuned for more.

the trophy

Last night was the last game of the soccer season and after the game the kids all got trophies. Addison is totally in love with that thing.
The trophy has been attached to her since she got it. I found it in the bed last night when I went to check on her.
I took it out when I went to bed and put it on her dresser. When I went to wake her up this morning it was nicely tucked in and she was hugging it. It's currently at school with her so she can show her friends. I'd say she's pretty proud.

giggles

Morgan is always so happy. Lately I catch her giggling for no apparent reason at all. At the last soccer game she was lounging in the chair and eating her apple. I don't know what it was, but she thought something was funny. I caught her mid giggle and with apple in her mouth.
In that moment I felt so much joy from seeing her so happy.
So far the terrible two's have been a piece of cake compared to Addison. I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch because I know three is much worse. But if she keeps giggling like she has been I can overlook most of it.

the team

I decided I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on the professional soccer pictures because I take pictures like a mad woman. And Addison still doesn't take a good picture when she has to. I ordered one 5x7 of the team to have as a keepsake. Last night I got the picture and it wasn't just a 5x7. It was this.
I can almost kick myself for not ordering some of her just by herself. She looks so grown up and I love how it came out. It's okay though. I get pictures like this that I can keep for a lifetime.
Two more games left. Let's see what else she can pull out of the hat.

recent soccer pics

We just finished up our 4th game last night and Addison is making progress. The last two weeks she's actually kicked the ball. Maybe it was in the wrong direction or out-of-bounds, but she KICKED the ball! That's all that really matters.
Time out on the field. One minute they're paying attention and 30 seconds later they're trying to figure out who can stick their belly out the farthest. Love it!
These two pictures crack me up. The look and the strut in front of the boys. Hilarious! Addison and her friend are inseparable on and off the field. Sometimes I catch them off chatting while the ball is in play. (Click the small pics.)

I think we actually won the game last night. It was because of sweet moves like this.
The ball is in there somewhere.
I think Addison is having a really good time. I know I'm having a good time watching. I have some video of her playing that I will post soon.
