her purse

This purse was stashed away in Addison's room. On Sunday Morgan came walking out with it hanging over her shoulder and quickly proclaimed that it was her purse. She's been addicted to it ever since. She sits in the floor and takes everything out and then puts it back in. It's serious business.
At any given time you will find a coin purse, keys, plastic butterfly things, and money in there. A 5 dollar bill to be exact. I think she has more money than I have in my purse.
This morning she stood in the middle of the living room with her arms in the air. "Where my purse?" I found it for her and so the process began. There was a little bowl in there. She packed everything up and forgot the bowl. When she noticed she forgot it I heard an "uh oh, spaghetti oh". Can't forget the bowl.
The purse went with us in the car. On the way to school she found some sunglasses in there. This was the first time she's put them on her face in the somewhat correct form. The purse stayed with her at school today. I better not forget it. That could be trouble.

owie

Addison bumped her head last night right before she went to bed. Maybe it was because I was giving her funny kisses while she was on the toilet and she lost her balance and fell into the bathtub. She wanted her boo boo bunny to make it feel better. About 10 o'clock we went in to check on her and found her like this.
I think it was all better this morning.

final swim

Addison's refresher took 8 days. I'm really glad it's over so I don't have to undress and dress two children everyday. I was so happy to see her jump in the water this year and really enjoy it. Sometimes so much that she doesn't want to rollover, float and take a breath.

Here's a little video of her last day. Morgan was sitting on my lap and I love how she giggles, laughs, and even "uh oh, spaghetti o's" when Addison is flipping and flopping in the water.

Morgan still has about 3 weeks left. Now the task will be to keep Addison occupied enough during Morgan's lesson so she doesn't whine because she can't go in the pool. This ought to be fun.

confession

"I thought I saw something blue on the counter and I didn't know what it was. I got on my tippy toes to see if there was something blue. I thought maybe it was Oreo's but it wasn't. If it was Oreo's I was going to get one because you weren't in there, but it wasn't so I didn't and then I left."

This is what Addison told me as we're leaving the kitchen last night and heading to bed. I hope she's always this honest.

adventure landing

The girls were invited to a birthday party at Adventure Landing. The highlight was definitely the kiddie roller coaster and the race cars. I wish I had my camera with me on the roller coaster. Addison loved it until we got the the small fast part. Her face went white and she grabbed my arm for dear life. She was used to it by the third and last time around.

Michael took her on the race cars. Here they are gearing up for the start. She thought it was the best thing in the world. I love the laughter and excitement on her face.

She was barely tall enough to see over the steering wheel, but that didn't matter.
Michael is going to kill me for posting this one, but it's too funny not too.
Poor Morgan was too little to ride the fun stuff, but she had a fun time watching. Soon enough my little one.

happy st. patty's day

The leprechaun came to our house this morning. The eggs and milk were green. Even the water in the toilet. Addison thought it was really neat and wanted to know where he lived.

I don't think they'll be getting pinched today.
I have my green shoes on. I'm sad that they are getting old and worn and will need to be thrown away soon. Maybe the leprechaun can bring me a new pair.

swimming lessons

I've been looking forward to this week and dreading it at the same time. The girls started swimming lessons on Monday. Addison jumped right in the water and picked up where she left off. She'll go for a week or two just to be reminded of the important stuff - rolling over for air, resting and floating, looking for the wall. Then maybe she'll learn a couple of new things so we can have more fun in the water. I have to remind myself how far she's come in two years. That made it a little easier when it was Morgan's turn to get in the water.

Just like I expected, she screamed and cried the entire time. Every word out of her mouth was mommy. I knew it would be a rough 10 minutes. She had a little trouble with her breath control and swallowed some water, but made it through. Yesterday we went, and just like with Addison, I was in shock to see the improvement in just one day. She still cried, but this time she stopped to listen to Kristen and prepare for the next step. She only swallowed water one time and was holding her breath so much better.

The video is a little hard to watch, but I wanted to take it so I can document how far she's come. Not one mommy this time.

Everything that Kristen is doing has a meaning. The hand in her face, the counting, allowing her to stay under water. What you don't see in the video is all of the hugs, high fives and reassuring that she does. You can check out the ISR site if you want to know more.

who wants to smile?

Morgan was standing in my bathroom this morning, counting the million things of Chapstick in the drawer. Why do I have a million? Because I'm addicted and somehow they all seem to disappear. I grabbed the Flip to catch her on camera.

After this 20 seconds of pure cuteness she confiscated the Flip and then ran all over the house taking videos. I watched those clips. The best one was of me, sitting on the floor half dressed, putting on my purple tights (actually, their more like magenta). You won't be seeing that here.

This is being put together in the backyard this weekend. An early birthday present for the girls.
If they knew about it they would be so excited. But they don't. And I'm bursting with excitement because I can't wait to see their faces.

it's beach time again

One the reasons I love living in Florida is that we get to enjoy the beach in February. I know I've said it before, but the beach gets on my nerves. The sand, the salt, the cold water, the mess afterwards. It's all a pain. But there are exceptions. This was one of those days. I wore jeans and a sweater because there was a slight breeze in the air. The sun was shining bright, but it wasn't really hot. There was no pressure to get in the water because it's still freezing cold. I hope that my love for the beach comes back now that the girls are older and getting them there will hopefully be easier.

For the first 15 minutes we were there Morgan wanted no part of it. She wasn't sure what the sand was and didn't want me to put her down. Last summer she had just learned to walk so she didn't get her toes in the sand that much. It was so funny watching her rediscover what it was. Her face had a look of awe. She kept looking down while she walked trying to figure out what this stuff was on her feet.
By the end of it all Addison was a mess. Her pants were soaking wet and she eventually ended up in her underwear. But they both had a blast so that's what really matters.

Also there that day were Michael's parents and our niece who were visiting from TN. Hannah had no trouble putting her feet in the water which is part of the reason Addison ended up wet. They're crazy I tell you. That water was cold.

bed head

Morgan had some serious hair issues this morning. It was kinky in some parts, matted in others and just overall out of control.
She sat on the couch watching Timmy Time, her favorite show, double fisting the sippy cups. One with milk, the other with juice. She had to have a blanket and her monkey. In her mind you can't have one with out the other.
She even gave me a sweet smile. Love her to death.

on her playlist

The girls stayed with my mom this past weekend while Michael and I went on a little getaway. We spent the weekend with all my co-workers and their significant others celebrating the fantastic year we had last year. There was good food, golfing, spa treatments and plenty of laughs. We both had a great time, but came home no more relaxed then when we left on Friday.

The girls love going to grandma's house. They don't cry as much as they used to because they now understand that we are coming back. They went to visit the alligators at the prairie, the park and in general were spoiled rotten. I guess while they were in the car they listened to Lady Antebellum.

Addison spent all of Sunday night belting out the words to Need You Now. I was dying laughing. What's sad is I think she was more on key than I am.
