chloe

I knew my mom had new kittens at her house so I was worried when we visited for Easter. Michael already mentioned that a friend for Izzie might be good. It would keep her off his head in the middle of the night. So, this happen. The kitten allergy test.
She passed the test. We were still going back and forth on whether or not to take her home, but as we were literally getting into the car to head home Michael told me to grab the kitten. She slept the whole way home.
I sent the above picture to our family and my sister-in-law Krista suggested the name Chloe. She looks like a Chloe so we went with it. It took a couple of days for Izzie to get used to her, but now they are the best of friends. Things get a little rough when they play, but Izzie is about two times bigger than her so it's to be expected. She's a little fluff ball and loves to cuddle. Sometimes I call her Fluffernut. I've given her a bath twice now and there is nothing to her. Friday night she hung out with me while I caught up on some tv.
She's taken to the litter box pretty well, but there have been a few accidents. Luckily those have been on the hardwood and not the rugs. She likes to sleep on the rug right under the kitchen sink. This was last night as we're making dinner, putting away lunchboxes and eating. It's really not a good place to sleep since we almost stepped on her several times.

Izzie is doing really well. When we went to my mom's for Easter she was home alone for about 30 hours. This was the first time we left her for that long. Ever since we gotten home she's been a different cat. She's been friendlier and more accepting of the girls torture. It's like she really missed us. I make sure to give her special attention every day.
Sometimes she's just funny. This is when she got in the laundry basket and just hung out for 15 minutes or so.
This pink chair is her spot. Chloe better not try and take it from her.
We love these kitties and are glad they've joined our family. So far it's been a lot of fun. Except for the vet bills. And that time Izzie knocked the litter box over while I was cleaning the hallway. Not so fun cleaning up that mess.

how's the cat

A co-worker keeps asking me if she's still alive. She is and is fitting in quite nicely with our little family. It appears I've become one of 'those people'. The ones who take a lot of pictures of their pet.
We took her to the vet for a check up and some more shots and I was sure that once I opened the cage she would bolt. She didn't. In fact, she was so nervous that she crawled back in the cage to hide. She was such a good little patient. The vet did what should needed to do and Izzie got a lollipop at the end. Not really.
The girls are in love. So much that they get a little too excited at times, which in turn just freaks Izzie out. She warmed up to Addison first. Addison is now able to go over and pick her up. It's really cute to look over and Addison is cradling her like a baby. This wasn't one of those times.
It's taking some time for her to get completely used to Morgan. I think that's because Morgan has only one way of approaching her - fast and loud. They're both coming around.
This was the first time Izzie actually laid with Morgan for an extended period of time. It was really sweet and Morgan was super happy.
Friday night we had Chipotle for dinner. Izzie's favorite part was the bag. She played with this thing for 30 minutes.

Her favorite toy is this ball/feather thing on a string. Now that it's torn to pieces it's like the toy that keeps on giving. She attacks the feather on her own and the girls still twirl the ball part for her to chase. Her other favorites are markers, the plastic balls that the Squinkies come in and just about anything in the playroom that moves. She has a field day in there.
This is her spot. The little chair that we have for the girls. Her other spot is on top of the couch. I love when she gets up there on top of the blanket that is draped over the back. Eventually the blanket slides off and so does she. It can be pretty entertaining. You can also find her curled up next to us in bed at night or down near the end of the comforter biting our toes and feet. That makes for a good wake up call at 5 o'clock in the morning.

izzie

We got two fish for Christmas. Michael loved them so much that he went out and bought a 37 gallon fish tank for our house. Over the next couple of weeks the girls spent a lot of time in the pet store and always wanted to pet the cats.

Then one day, out of the blue, I get an email from Michael saying he's gone soft and wants to get the girls a cat. That's not really what it said, but you get the idea. I was shocked. Neither one of us have wanted a pet because of the responsibility that comes with it. And Michael usually gets red, blotchy and itchy when around cats. We talked about it and agreed that if we could find one that didn't cause him to break out in hives we would get the girls a cat. A lot less responsibility than a dog.

Last weekend we went to the Humane Society to check it out. This was the first kitty Michael saw and he held her for 30 minutes. No watery eyes or sneezing. I had my eye on a couple others, but I didn't want to tempt fate. She was our kitty.
She had to be spayed so she couldn't come home with us that day. For two days we talked about names for our sweet kitty. We narrowed it down to Livi (short for Olivia, Morgan's favorite) and Tink (short for Tinkerbell, Addison's favorite). Michael picked her up Tuesday after work and while I was out bowling with my work peeps that night the girls decided on her name. I'm sure Michael had some say since they picked neither of those name, but since they both agreed on Izzie, Izzie it was.

We didn't see her much on Wednesday. After searching every inch of the house about five times and not finding her I was convinced she got out. She finally came out that night for food and I still don't know where her secret hiding place is. She's coming around and last night she was out walking around and even playing with the girls.
Her favorite spots to hide are under the TV stand and the couches which means she's tracked every single piece of dust all over my floor. Good thing the cleaning lady is coming today. I hope by the end of the weekend she is more comfortable with us because the girls are dying to really hold her.
