pony's, fire and swords

Remember in my last post when I said that Morgan's pony ride would come? Well, it did. The very next day at the circus. It costs a lot more than Addison's ride, but it was worth it. She loved it up there.
This is the same circus we've been going to for the last two years. Remember when Addison wanted to see a cat? (link here) Believe it or not that cat is still in the circus, along with some of the other same acts. This year they added a funny trampoline routine that the kids loved and the grand finale was a guy shooting out of a cannon. I was even impressed.
Since we had a bunch of free tickets we asked Addison's best buds to go with us. And since they're all boys and all had the plastic light up swords Addison had to have one too. Which means I had to get Morgan one or that would lead to a big showdown. I tried so hard to get out of it, but sometimes I'm a sucker. The money went to the Shriner's so it was justifiable.
Morgan wanted to take the pictures rather than sit still for one. This is the result of the camera reach.
Addison was all about the clowns until it was time to actually go up and talk to one. I don't blame her too much. A few of them looked a little creepy. We'll try again next year. The date is already on the calendar.

butterfly farm

The butterfly farm near my mom's house was having a little festival this past weekend. Since the girls and I were in town we headed to check it out. Turns out it was really REALLY hot! And there was a little incident that Morgan and I had with the ants that didn't turn out well for our feet. But we had a good time. Addison wanted to ride the pony so bad and then she whined the entire time she was up there.
Morgan wanted nothing to do with the pony's and threw a fit the whole time I was taking pictures. Five minutes after we walked away she wanted to ride the pony's. Her time would come.

They also had some arts & crafts where you could make your own butterfly. The girls love this stuff and probably sat there for 40 minutes. The face paint didn't last long because of the heat, but it was cute.
I had to take a picture of Morgan napping at my mom's. She still sleeps in her crib at home and I would really be okay if she slept in there until she was 6 or so. This was her first real time sleeping in a big girl bed all by herself. She went right down and slept like a champ.
It was a fun little day on the farm.

just because

It was humid last night at soccer practice and her curls were all over the place. So was she. But she stopped long enough for me to just look at her face. Love her!

what morgan does at soccer games

Her attention on the actual game doesn't last long. She looks forward to the halftime snacks which she manages to get her hands on even though they are technically not for her. Sometimes we play monster and take turns chasing each other. On this day her and Michael had a tickle fight. I love, love, love to hear her giggle.
Every week she takes everything out of my soccer bag, lays it out on the blanket and then puts it back in. If she's really bored she'll do it 2 or 3 times.
Sometimes she sings and tries on sunglasses.

Last week we weren't far from the park so Michael took her over for awhile.
There was that one time when we pulled up and she looked at me and said she wanted to go home. She made it through most of it. As long as we keep her busy she is normally pretty good.

*And a happy birthday to my brother today.

recent soccer pics

We just finished up our 4th game last night and Addison is making progress. The last two weeks she's actually kicked the ball. Maybe it was in the wrong direction or out-of-bounds, but she KICKED the ball! That's all that really matters.
Time out on the field. One minute they're paying attention and 30 seconds later they're trying to figure out who can stick their belly out the farthest. Love it!
These two pictures crack me up. The look and the strut in front of the boys. Hilarious! Addison and her friend are inseparable on and off the field. Sometimes I catch them off chatting while the ball is in play. (Click the small pics.)

I think we actually won the game last night. It was because of sweet moves like this.
The ball is in there somewhere.
I think Addison is having a really good time. I know I'm having a good time watching. I have some video of her playing that I will post soon.

two princesses and a fairy

In case it's not evident, I would do anything for them. This includes dressing up in clothes that look silly and don't fit while having a three day migraine.
And posting pictures of myself looking really rough. (I've been tired lately.)
If they're happy, I'm happy.

shannon and nyc

Last weekend I went to visit Shannon up in the big city. She actually lives in Jersey, but not for long. It's been 18 months since I've been to visit. It was nice to go to NY for once and not have to worry about sweaters and coats. I acutally packed light so I could do some serious shopping. I didn't get as much as I hoped for and my bank account thanked me for that. But what I lacked in clothes I made up for in food. I almost got in a fight in the line at Shake Shack because the people behind us kept bumping into me. It's a long line that takes 45 minutes, but we're in a park. Give me some SPACE people!
Along our shopping route we passed by Parson's. For the non Project Runway fans out there this is where they do all of their creating. So here's my cheesy picture.
I went to the Disney Store in Times Square to look for gifts for the girls. I didn't find anything New York-ish, but I did get to dress like Jack Sparrow.
We scored half price tickets to see Memphis on Broadway Saturday afternoon. Fantastic show. There are no cameras allowed in the theatre, but I thought I could be sneaky. Not a chance. Totally got busted and was reprimanded by the guy with his flashlight. Oops. But look at our cute picture.
Saturday night we got all dolled up and went dancing at the club. Shannon's friend was having a little birthday party so we were able to bypass the $30 cover. I learned a NYC trick and carried my flats in my clutch. Lucky for me I have small feet. I'm just glad I was able to take my heels off for the ride home.
I woke up only slightly hungover on Sunday and didn't have a huge headache. Good thing since we headed to the Yankee game. The garlic cheese fries we splurged on during the game were really good, but we paid for them later. There was a LOT of garlic. Later we met up with some of Shannon's friends and played beer pong at their favorite dive bar. Shannon's a sport and drank all my beer too. Good thing we won.
You might notice that my pictures are blurry or either taken with my phone. I had my point and shoot camera on the wrong setting the entire time. I had a fabulous time and made great memories with or without pictures. I love my bestie and spending time with her is always great. Thanks Shannon!

while mommy is away

I love getting texts with pictures of the girls when I'm out of town because I really do miss them. Evidently Addison missed me too. She called me often to tell me so. But I bet they weren't missing me when they were having milkshakes around dinner time.
Michael did a really good job of getting them out and about all weekend. They even had a picnic at the park.
But at one point they just didn't want to go anywhere. They were having too much fun playing in the closet.
Our nephew recently moved close to attend college and came to visit for the weekend. Michael probably won't admit it, but I'm sure it was nice to have the extra hands. They took the girls to the alligator farm on Monday. Because it was slow the employees let the girls pet the reptiles for free rather than charging them.
There is plexiglass here that you can't see. I love Morgan's reaction. "Get me away from these things."
I still kiss my babies every night before I go to bed. This made me miss them even more.
They both had such a good weekend with Daddy, but they were happy to see me. I got big hugs and kisses and requests to color as soon as I walked in the door. Made my day.

on the road

This weekend I am in NYC (and Jersey) for some much needed girl time with my best friend Shannon. Yesterday we shopped 'til we dropped and indulged in one of the best meals on this planet. You have to wait in line for 45 mins and then deal with the guilt of eating 1000 calories and 50+ grams of fat, but the Shake Shack burger, fries and milkshake are SO worth it.

Today we'll maybe catch a show and do some more shopping. Tomorrow we're going to the Yankees game. And when I leave on Monday my body will ache all over.

Addison said she's going to draw a picture and send it to me because she doesn't want me to forget about her. Morgan still hasn't mastered talking on the phone so she told me she loved me and almost hung up. I miss my girls, but they are having a blast with daddy.

sleeping beauties

Saturday night we stayed at a hotel in Daytona. We had lanai access to the pool and were just yards from the beach. The girls think it is the best thing ever when we stay at a hotel. Addison told me she wanted to live there.

This was the first time the girls have ever slept together under my watch. (The other time was New Year's Eve when they spent a couple hours at a friend's house.) It melted my heart to find them like this.
After I took these they moved about 2 feet apart, but it was cute while it lasted. They made it through the night with no major issues.
There was a thud in the early morning hours. I waited for the crying and it never came. I realized it was a pillow falling off the bed and not a child. Close one.
