school easter egg hunt

Of all days, it had to be cold this day. Like, almost winter for us Floridians, cold. It didn't damper the kids excitement though. They were ready to search for their eggs and see the Easter bunny.
The search was on.
It didn't take her long to find the five that they were allowed.
Everything came to a halt when the Easter bunny arrived. I'm telling you. People in a bunny costume really freak me out.
Then it was time to play on the playground. It didn't matter that it was windy and cold.
See that hair. Wind will do that.
It was a fun little Easter celebration at school. I'm lucky that I get to participate.

spa party

I had a hard time coming up with new ideas for Addison's party. The lightbulb went on the day Morgan was invited to a mani/pedi party. I wanted to try and keep it small and simple. Something that required the least amount of effort on my part. Addison loved the idea and planned to invite 6 friends, with her it would be 7. See how she did that? I tell you she's wise for her age.

First up was a pedicure. The nail salon is super great with the kids and had drinks and snacks for all of them.
Addison and her friends weren't the only one participating that day. Michael and my Mom got in on the action. They'll probably both be mad that I posted these.
On to nails. You would be shocked to know that all of the girls picked some shade of pink and purple. And all had a flower design.

Morgan waited patiently for her turn in the chair. She also refused to take the face painting off from the Easter carnival that morning.
I mean, look at this kid. Snacks, chair back, feet up, nails being painted. It was like she owned the place.
The first four drying while the second four finish up. These are all girls from Addison's class and they are the sweetest girls. I hope these are friendships that will last a really long time.
Then it was off to Chick-fil-a for dinner, cake and ice cream.
A blog post of my children would not be complete without a picture of one of them with food in their mouth. It was her party so I'll let it slide.

The birthday crew.
I found out that Publix doesn't have the rights to make an official Frozen cake, so we had to improvise. They had the snowflakes, we added the figurines. I think it turned out pretty good. I mean, it tasted good.
Singing Happy Birthday is probably my favorite part. For some reason the reality of her being a year older hits me every time.
I hope that all her birthday wishes come true.

Happy 7th Birthday to my sweet baby girl. More birthday fun to come.

addison turns 7

God blessed me with this sweet girl 7 years ago. She was definitely meant to be mine. She is my sunshine.
Turning 7 is so much fun. Happy Birthday Addison!

let the easter celebrations begin

I was going to say that I finally feel like Spring is here. The sun is shining most days and we finally have our flip flops on. But this morning I went out for my workout and it was 47 degrees. What the what? Someone really pissed off Mother Nature this year. But, Saturday was beautiful. I took the girls down to the church near our house for some Easter activities and their first egg hunt of the year.
And they're off! As you can see, there was no shortage of eggs to find. It all went so fast that I barely got any pictures.
Right after the egg hunt we headed over to ride the ponies. This was the first time Morgan hasn't been afraid to get on a horse.
Actually, I think she really liked it.
Morgan wanted no part of the rock wall. Addison was a trooper and made it about halfway up before she declared she was done.

Then we took a break in the shade to check out what was in the eggs. This bought us enough time to stick around for the magic show.

Addison racked up about 13 jelly bracelets. She was pretty excited.

Thankfully there wasn't a lot of candy in the eggs or I would have eaten it all. But there were gummies in there and they are slowly disappearing from the house. I think the cat is eating them.

this girl

She is the best! During Spring Break she went to "camp" for the week. Every day was a different theme and I was so excited when I saw 80's dance party day on the list.

I was even more excited that she wanted to wear all of this. A girl after my own heart.
This week was FCAT pep rally week. They do different stuff each day leading up to the test. Wednesday was fashion disaster day. She picked most of this out herself. Even the tie!
It amazes me that at almost 7 she sometimes worries about what people are going to think or say about her. We talk all the time about how if she's happy and having fun then that's all that matters. All I ever want is for her to live in the moment and have fun.
Today was picture day at school. Everything about this makes me smile. The new clothes, the curls in her hair, the knee high socks.
She's going to be 7 next week. How did that happen?

finally

It's been over a year since this monkey has slept through the night, in her OWN bed. She'd wake up for one reason or another and come into our room. We'd find her on the side of the bed, tapping us on the shoulder.

What's wrong Morgan?

The answer was always nothing, or I'm scared, or I don't like my bed. There were times when she would just crawl into bed with Addison. We were fine with that, until Addison started getting annoyed. We tried everything. Bribes, punishment, trickery, even duct tape and Benedryl (kidding...maybe). And then one night she decided she was going to stay in her bed for 7 nights. After 6 nights I gave her an Elsa doll.
I don't know what happen or why she picked now. I don't really care. It's like I went from having a newborn to an almost 5 year old.
Darn right I gave her an Elsa doll. And I'll do it again if I have to.

st. patrick's day

The day of the Leprechaun. And a mischievous one at that. The silly guy left a lot of fun things around the house for the girls to find. Green toilet water. Always a hit.
Green milk for breakfast.

It's not a St. Patty's Day without Lucky Charms for breakfast. As you can see, the leprechaun marked their faces as well.

The girls got a kick out of his little feet and the gold coins. They were scattered in all the rooms that he vandalized.
It's probably the one day a year where the girls don't mind cleaning up the mess.
I love celebrating holidays. I think that's because my mom always did it for us as kids. These girls love it just as much so they had no problem sporting their green for the day.

They didn't catch the leprechaun, but they were okay with that. Maybe next year.
