unplanned egg hunt

We were off to get haircuts for the girls and spotted the Easter festival going on at the church down the street. I was still in my gym clothes and the girls were not dressed for a social gathering, but we didn't care. We pulled in with 20 minutes to spend in the bounce houses before the egg hunt started. I happen to have their buckets in the back of the car and Michael ran home to get my camera. Morgan was set to go.
They were off. I love egg hunts. All of the commotion lasted about five minutes.
Addison was pretty excited about the gold egg.
Morgan showing off her finds.

Addison was all about the shiny ones.

I'm glad we stopped. It turned out to be a really fun time. We were there for about an hour, which was the perfect amount of time. We left right as the sky opened up and then it rained for two days. I think the weather kept some people away which meant the girls had the bounce house to themselves at one point. Just how they like it.

my little bunny

I stopped by the school last week to help out with the Easter crafts. I was only able to stay about 30 minutes, but it was still fun. Addison just finished her bunny hat.
That's the cutest bunny I've ever seen. Although, it may need some dental work.
She knew I couldn't stay long. We were both a little sad so she made this picture to cheer me up. It worked. I think I still have it in my purse.
I just love her sweet personality.

fun run

You may have received a phone call over the past two weeks from Addison. She was so excited to call family and friends and ask for donations for her Boosterthon. She was a little nervous, but I made her do all of the talking. The teachers set classroom goals along the way and rewarded them with a picnic lunch, crazy sock day and a pizza party. If they met the ultimate goal the teachers promised to color their hair. Guess they made it.
They were supposed to do 35 laps around the track. Not a real track. A much smaller version. Addison was ready.
The Boosterthon staff were really awesome. The guys were energetic, fun and really kept the kids hyped up. There was a dance lap, a walk with a friend lap, a skipping lap, a high five the parents lap, and all other sorts of fun stuff. Addison had a lot of fun.
For every lap they ran they got a mark on the back of their shirt. This is the intern in her class, Ms. Murphy, marking her shirt. Trust me. The teachers worked just as hard as the kids.
Water break. They had to run with their cups.
She did it! All 35 laps.
Here she is at the finish line. My favorite picture of them all! She was so proud.
I wish I was recording her last lap. They yelled out that they only had 30 seconds left and she was booking it. She was bound and determined to cross the finish line and she did. I had a lot of fun cheering her on (and dancing to the music). This was a fun event!

Thanks to all that donated money. Addison appreciates it and I do believe the school really does as well!

leprechaun was here

Michael was out of town all weekend so the girls and I had a sleepover in my bed on Saturday night. It was all an attempt to get them to sleep in a bit, but it failed. Addison was up at 7:40 itching to go do something. She was the first to see what the leprechaun did to the house. He put up streamers and lined the hallway with their stuffed animals.

Addison checked her trap to see if she caught him. She did not, but he did leave a sweet note.
Addison actually remembered a lot of stuff that he did last year. On the way to look for the green milk they found this. I guess leprechauns get hungry.

And there it was.
Notice the green marks on their faces. He did that too. It also got all over the pillow. Evidently writing on someone's cheek tickles a little.
I made sure that we cleaned the playroom before going to bed so it could be a mess in the morning. Toys were scattered everywhere.

Last but not least, you can't forget the green toilet water.

I love to see the girls faces when they find all of this stuff. They're so full of joy and excitement. That's really what it's all about. Afterwards we cleaned the playroom and then played outside. We finished off the morning with a PB&J picnic. Like usual, Morgan didn't eat much of anything.

getting set

The girls were all ready for St. Patrick's Day. Addison had to make a leprechaun trap for school. He would walk up the stairs and when he reached in to grab the coin he would fall through the hole in the tissue box. Brilliant!

They both dressed in their finest green for school on Friday. I about died when I picked them up and they both had these hats.

I mean, come on. Isn't this the cutest?
I had a lot of things planned for Saturday night. I couldn't wait to see their faces.

happy st. patty's day

The leprechaun was here last night. He left a mess and a couple of surprises. I love holidays! More to come.

she has flair

Flair is a good word to describe Morgan. She has lots of it. And attitude.
She has a unique way of thinking. She drew this picture and I asked her what it was. You'll never guess. It's a washing machine.
She's very dramatic and loves to play make believe. Barbies, fairies, princess, or anything where she has to be someone. She's also into these Squinkie toys. One day we spent an hour lining all of these up in a circle so they could play duck, duck, goose. And because it's one of the funniest things ever I will point out the yellow Hello Kitty just to the right of the castle. This is her special Squinkie that she has named Tindified. She can't tell me where the name comes from because she completely made it up. But she's adamant about calling her Tindified. It's hard to see in this picture but she also likes to pull the wings off the fairy ones.
Last week I made cupcakes for the school carnival. After bath one night I had the bright idea to let them have one. On the couch. What the heck was I thinking?
I love her free spirit. I love her boldness. I love her spice. It drives me nuts at times, but it also makes me laugh just as much.

zoo field trip

This past Friday I went with Addison on her zoo field trip. We had a blast! There were only 3 kids in our group and they all were great. We covered a lot of ground in the short amount of time that we were there. We took off and found ourselves in the Wild Florida exhibit. The bears look so cute and cuddly when they're sleeping.
You can hear the monkeys as soon as you walk into the zoo so the girls were determined to find them. Close by we saw all different kinds of primates. I'm not sure what this one is, but it sure was fun.

Every time I see this guy he's doing this. Just chillin'.
Then we headed to the South American loop. We saw the Jaguars and all kinds of reptiles, but for some reason the Anteater is always a favorite.
We only had a few minutes before heading to lunch. Just enough time to feed the birds. They were in the middle of migrating the birds in and out so there wasn't many and they weren't very interested in eating the sugar water. But I got lucky. I stuck my hand up high and two of the birds decided to take a ride on my arm. It worked out great because the girls were able to get up close and feed them.
After a quick lunch break, the girls were ready to get at it again. We paused near the gorilla statue so the girls could climb all over it and the rocks. Addison felt like queen of the jungle.
Time to feed the giraffes. This is what I got of Addison while we were waiting our turn. Sometimes I wonder where she comes up with this stuff.

The girls all took turns getting up close and personal with the giraffe and his extremely long tongue.
Made a stop at the giant elephant statue. Addison hung out for a bit.
Our last stop on the tour was the African loop. We saw some rhino's...
 ...and real elephants.
After meeting back up with the class we went to the educational portion of the day. The kids got to see and touch a couple of animals. First up was the owl, which I thought was awesome. Then they brought around a turtle, snake, and armadillo for the kids to touch. There were a lot of ooh's and aah's in the room.
Addison had a really fun day with her friends.
When we were all done she got to ride home with me instead of on the bus back to school. This may have been what she was most excited about all day.
