Let's just say I was a little nervous when I purchased the tickets to go see Dora Live. Addison has the attention span of, well, a two year old. But when I got the buy one, get one free email for tickets I decided to go for it. What's the worse that could happen? She wouldn't be interested. She would throw a fit. She would run around crazy and not sit in her seat.
Well, she loved it. We talked about the show the whole way there telling her we were going to see a Dora that was as big as mommy and a Swiper as big as daddy. (How do you explain that cartoon characters aren't going to be on the TV?) I think she got it. The show started and she was locked in. She wouldn't even acknowledge Michael and I as we tried to interact with her. She was serious about Dora. But when Swiper came on the stage her face lit up. She did the whole Swiper, no swiping. At intermission she was so concerned.
"Mommy, where did Swiper go? When is Swiper coming back out?" And on the way home she told me that Swiper was her best friend.
I'm so glad that we decided to go, just the three of us. I think she needed the break from her sister. And thanks to Michael's parents for watching Morgan for us.
And for the record, Addison refuses to take a picture with me. Maybe because she is used to me being behind the camera. This is the best we got. A cute one with Michael (and her ticket that she held the whole show) and a 'I don't want to take a picture right now' shot with me.
