the 5th birthday party

Being the second child with a birthday only 3 weeks after your sister's, you sometimes get the short end of the stick. Morgan's only real birthday party was when she turned one, so I figured it was only fair that we threw her a real party. I planned that thing for weeks. Bounce house, pizza, cupcakes with Anna and Elsa, Frozen decorations, invites for all her friends. The day had finally arrived. Everything was set up outside on our new back patio.

And then it rained.

I wanted to cry. Then I wanted to laugh. Then I decided to just have a drink. The kids ran around the house finding nooks and cranny's with all kinds of stuff. There were dress up clothes everywhere. But they were having fun so that's all that mattered. Then we set up tables inside and served lunch.
After lunch we did cupcakes. Oh, the cupcakes. I really had a lot of fun making the toppers for these. Throwing a party is a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun as well.

Just because I went all Martha Stewart on my mantle, I want to show it off. By the way, all of this stuff is STILL on the mantle.
Then the parents in attendance made an executive decision. We let the kids play in the wet bounce house. They were wet, cold and then all headed home with a towel.
Later that day the rain finally stopped. Morgan, Addison and Scarlette decided to give the bounce house another try.

And because I'm the best mom EVER I let Morgan have another cupcake after dinner. I really only did it because I had 48 of those suckers and the longer they stuck around the more I would eat.

Despite the rain, I think she had a pretty great party. The kids and parents all said they had a good time. She was happy, so that's all that really matters.
